This fan works well (and quietly!) once installed... but the installation is the challenge. I was replacing and existing 35-year old metal Air King exhaust fan.
This fan mounts to the side of a ceiling joist using a thin metal L-shaped bracket. The side of the bracket, with a lip to hang the fan bottom, is flush with the ceiling and nailed to the beam. The top of the bracket extends several inches, and catches on a tab extending out of the top of the fan housing. The theory is that you hook the side of the bracket with the fan bottom, and swing up until the top snaps in place. In practice however, it doesn't work. First the duct connection extends past the side of the housing, meaning that you'd have to cut an extras two inches of ceiling out if you were to "swing" this into place in existing construction. (It might be removable, but that would defect the purpose somewhat). It is difficult if not impossible to hang the fan from above with the bracket already attached. And...Read more

Very Quiet. Very Easy to install. Although I had someone else do the install, but he did it pretty quick. Only a little sheetrock had to be cut. Very Quiet. Almost Zero noise. I find it very efficient. Good Buy.

The fan came out of the box, was installed only to find that the blade assembly rubbed against the exhaust cylinder's framing so bad it kept the fan blade from turning. After un-installing, taking the fan completely apart, and re-seating the motor/blade assembly (turning it 180 degrees), did it work correctly.
It now runs 24x7 and is very quite - exactly what we needed. Much like anything else - you get what you pay for. Though the fan is functional and quite, it's cost effectiveness must come out of the manufacturer's quality control budget.
