Air King Energy Star 1.5-Sone Quiet Series Bath Fan

Comment: Amazon must be reading reviews, I received mine by U.P.S. June 9, 2010 and it didn't come in damaged.
The packaging was packed well and the outlet was facing the long side of the box so the it couldn't get damaged.
My only beef with it would be that the outlet was too small for the duct work, so I had to wrap duct tape around it in order to get a good seal.
No problems with it so far and it does work well to eliminate the humidity after a hot shower.

Comment: Like the previous reviewer said the product arrived damaged. Both the collar and damper which is made out of plastic was in a number of pieces. You could see when it arrived that the box it comes in was damaged and the plastic collar is flushed with the cardboard box. Amazon should have sent this item within another box with packaging cushion to prevent this.
Never got to install and use the fan so can't say how the product actually works. Bought this item based on consumer report's high rating and the price seemed right.
Hopefully Amazon will treat this package as a fragile item and ship it out like glassware with extra padding... maybe the next customer will not be as disappointed as I was. I am returning the item for a full refund and looking for another place where they will treat packaging with a little more respect.

Comment: I'm giving this product five stars because I've installed these in the past and it's an excellent ventilation unit, and because Air King has excellent customer support BUT...

.... this was ANOTHER Amazon shipping disaster: the fan was packed in exterior box into which it fit tightly, the result was that the venturti was cracked in half and the collar and damper were broken into 11 pieces (I counted).

I'm hardly surprised that arrived in the conditioner it did given the spectacularly negligent nature of the packaging and especially given that I frequently receive orders in a condition which leads me to suspect that the FedEx sorting crew is been playing basketball with them - IMO anybody who intends to surrender merchandise to the tender mercy of FedEx ought to assume it's going to be treated as badly or worse, and package accordingly.

And adding to injury, I paid for overnight shipping, which I assume in this case probably meant that instead of playing basketball with the fan it was shot out of a cannon from one end of the sorting facility to the other.

Air King is sending replacement parts at no charge but clearly if you're going to purchase this item, you need to purchase it from somebody who gives a tinker's %)&# about whether it arrives in one piece or a dozen
