This review is from: Broan 100HL Directionally-Adjustable Bath Fan with Heater and Incandescent Light (Tools & Home Improvement) I shopped the big-box store for a bathroom fan and was pleased to see a sign "We will beat any price!" when I entered. I brought the 100HL to the counter but was told they can beat any price "Except Amazon". For a $50 savings I opted to wait 3 days for Amazon to ship.
I wanted an energy-efficient light (like the 100HFL) but after reading the review by D. Abernethy about removing the bracket that prevents installing a compact fluorescent I figured I'd save $25, order the 100HL and remove the bracket also. Turns out I only needed to easily bend the bracket slightly to allow a CF bulb to fit. For fun I called customer service and asked if there was a reason they didn't want CF bulbs to be used. They told me it was only because it was not tested that way in the lab when it was UL certified and in the future they will only have one model that takes incandescent or CF bulbs. This review is from: Broan 100HL Directionally-Adjustable Bath Fan with Heater and Incandescent Light (Tools & Home Improvement) I purchased this fan to replace a bathroom fan I installed 7-8 years ago that didn't have a heater. My wife loves it; very effective at warming the whole bathroom. Heater's noise level is good but louder than I'd expected, exhaust fan noise is less and very acceptable, light output is good though I did remove a welded on bracket so there would be room for a compact florescent bulb. Installation was straight forward but a dedicated 20A circuit is required. Directional heater vent is a nice touch. 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful: Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Broan 100HL Directionally-Adjustable Bath Fan with Heater and Incandescent Light (Tools & Home Improvement) When mounted, it looks even better than the Broan picture! I upgraded our mother-in-law bath with this unit. The ceiling opening had to be enlarged but was easy to install. The directions do not mention removing the vent fan and heater unit from the "can" before mounting when hanging against a joist; an easy option when attic access isn't possible. It is quiet (2.0 sones) and the heater output is pleasant, too. Assuming it doesn't break down any time soon, I would rate this fan a "5" out of "5." |
