Broan 164 2-Bulb Ventilation Heater Bath Fan with Lights
This item has two 250W sockets and a fan, which can be switched in any configuration. I have the fan on one switch and the bulbs on separate switches wired in series with manual timers. This allows me to control the lights (infrared/infrared or infrared/incandescent)with a timer to ensure they do not remain on if I forget. The manual switch allows me to turn off the lights if the timer is still running. The unit works great and was easy to install. It requires more than average sophistication to understand the instructions. Also, although it seems to work well, the unit arrived slightly bent due to poor packaging. One feature I liked a lot is that the fan can be removed for cleaning or replacement through the cover. I can't testify as to how it will hold up; however, it works as advertised for now. Shipping was fast and I consider it a good buy, especially considering I was not able to find many IR units for bathrooms.

OK, the old one was identical, I installed it 20 years ago. It still works, just a bit noisy, but I found I could replace it entirely for less than a new motor/fan. I think I have replaced bulbs once during the time. Same timer switch, too. There aren't many products out there that work 20+ years with only minor cleaning/oil, so I got another one. Simple installation; this one I'll exchange, re-caulk, and be back in business. Save yourself trouble; use non-flexible duct that vents outside from the very start. Shipping was free and fast. I'd certainly buy from them again.

This is a pretty good product and a good price, but its for new construction not for retrofits.
The difference is that there will be air gaps between the ceiling drywall and this unit if you are retrofitting. Especially if you have an older house with an old unit that was nailed directly to a joist. This unit has sliding steel rails so you can locate anywhere between the ceiling joists which is ok for new construction but for retrofits you will have a huge air gap.
