Broan QTRE100S Ultra Silent Humidity Sensing Fans with Sensaire Technology

The Broan Humidity Sensing Fan was installed in our bathroom two months ago. The bathroom doesn't get steamy anymore - no steamed mirrors and no condensation on the walls or window. The fan is quiet - a gentle low whoosh is all I hear. I hear it turn on but it quickly becomes quiet background noise I don't notice. The electrician installed a wall switch for the fan as well. When I wash down the shower walls I can override the sensor, turn the fan on manually and the fan pulls the cleaning smell out of the bathroom quickly. In the morning, when everyone is rushing, no one needs to remember to turn the fan on. Then, in the hurry to get out the door, no one forgets to turn the fan off. Not that we ever had that problem! ;) The humidity sensor feature turns it on every time when needed and turns it off when the air is clear. It will prevent mold AND save energy - it was worth the extra money for the humidity sensor.

We recently renovated our kitchen and bathroom and of all the new things we got, this humidity sensing fan is my favorite. With three teenagers taking showers, we would get so much condensation on the walls that drips would run down the walls and we would get brownish stains (I assume from mold).

This fan turns on automatically shortly after the shower starts and runs for 20 minutes. No more nagging the teenagers to open the window! It can be set up with one wall switch or two switches. With two switches, one turns on the automatic mode (humidity sensor) and one is a manual override to turn the fan on. With one switch, what we have, I can turn the fan on manually by flipping the switch off for 1 second and then back on. Flipping it off for 4 seconds of more and then on again changes it back to automatic mode.

While this fan is MUCH quieter than my old one, it is far from silent. But the humidistat feature that turns it on automatically is wonderful & works very well. It comes on almost immediately when we turn on the shower, & we no longer have condensation on the mirrors or window. Great product.
