This is a great looking light -far better than the plastic lights on the market and I like the rectangle design better than the circular ones.
The installation instructions were well written with 4 sets of instructions depending on your scenario (new construction/replacing an existing fan etc.) I was replacing an existing fan.
You will need Three-conductor NM cable running to a double switch to utilize the full functionality of this fan (contains both red and black "hot" wires) so that you can power on the nightlight (1) Then the fan/main light (2) via a double light switch. If you have a standard 3 wire cable (one black hot), you can just skip the nightlight and have your fan and light run on the single switch.
I have two switches wired, but had no use for the nightlight-a small std nightlight sized bulb required. I prefer to have the fan run separately from the main light, because I like to leave the fan on when I'm out of the room sometimes to keep...Read more

beautiful but flawed,

Pro's:
(1) Very well written installation guide, with excellent drawings to guide the process.
(2) Good looking fixture -- not your typical bathroom fan. Better looking then anything available at Home Depot.
(3) Includes a night light!
Con's:
(1) Uses 2 smaller A15 bulbs instead of typical A19 household bulbs. Necessitated a trip to Home Depot to pick up these specialty bulbs.
(2) Night Light doesn't seem to work. Tried more then one bulb. Could be a wiring issue but, since the fan and main a15 bulbs work I don't think it is a problem with the way I wired it. Also, the night lite does not include a sensor so once it does work, I assume it will always be on. This was one of the reasons I bought this fixture -- so having the night light not working is a bummer.
(3) My biggest disappointment is how little light the fixture puts out. With two 60 watt bulbs I would expect some decent light -- yet the room is still quite dark with only this light...Read more

Purchased the Hampton Bay Lowes version (Made by Hunter) for $118.00.
Primarily so I could return it easily after reading some reviews here.
Installed it in conjunction with HUNTER 27179 Bathroom Fan & Light Wall Control. (purchased from Amazon)
This switch allows you to have independent operation for Light and Fan, using only the single existing hot wire to your old light switch. You cannot use the night light in this configuration.
Instructions are excellent. I used the online pdf at Hunter.com. It shows things a little clearer. Installation into the ceiling was fairly easy, as I was able to access from both below and above. The actual location, into the hip roof eave was a challenge due to the geometry of the roof at that location. Involved lying face down, and stretching arms outright to secure between the ceiling joists. Don't try this at home, I am a long time residential contractor.
The unit is fairly quiet, the cfm is OK, but the light...Read more
