Comment: The fan was just installed a week ago, so I can't comment on its durability. It is very quiet and the night light is a nice feature. The main light provides a lot of light, but it is a bit harsh. I would have preferred a "soft white" coloring to the light. The back draft damper has about a 1/8" to 1/4" gap around most of the perimeter, but when combined with the damper on the exterior of the building, it doesn't seem to be a problem so far. The only reasons for 4 instead of 5 stars is because of the damper and harsh flourescent coloring to the light. I would certainly buy it again and I would recommend it to a friend.

Summary: Quiet, powerful light, but undersized backdraft damper 2009-07-04
Comment: This expensive unit is very quiet and is well built, except for a ridiculously ineffective backdraft damper. It has a 3/16" clearance all around the flap that leaks air. So, it allows air to come in when the unit is off. I removed the flap and installed an external plastic one that seals better. Those are cheap so it's not a big deal; having a quiet unit matters more to me. The light is very powerful and does not overheat, and turns on instantly (no flickering or low initial light).
