Panasonic Exhaust FV11VHL1,
June 6, 2007 R. Levin "Home owner" (Maryland) - See all my reviews
I saw the Panasonic Exhaust FV11VHL1 fan at a kitchen and bath remodeling store and thought it would be perfect for our 12x14 bath area. Let me start with installation. I installed the fan in place of a light in our 10 year old home. This is not a project for a novice. It requires installing a header to hold the fan and wiring four electrical switches. Note: the switches are not included with the fan, but I was able to find dual paddle switches at home depot along with a bezel to fit the switches. The fan is heavy and requires two people to lift it into the frame and bolt it in. Wiring the unit was also a chore as you need four separate power and four separate neutrals from the switches to the unit. I would definitely suggest using an electrician. Lastly, because I ran the unit off the power source for the light, it was a 15 amp circuit. This is probably "just" adequate for running the unit with lights and heater and if there are other lights or outlets on the circuit you are...Read more

I love the way Panasonic continues to improve their products. The delay in the heat fan with this unit is brilliant. The heater fan waits until the element is hot to turn on.
I have installed at least six of these fans. One of the units was fouled by a bat trying to fly through it. I left the unit on all night to dry fresh wall texture for paint the next day and was quite surprised to find the dead bat in the blades, thumping round and round the next morning. I Shop Vac'd the remains and brushed off the fan blades and the unit continues to perform without damage or noise.
Make sure you have adequate power to install this unit. A 20 amp circuit is recomended. I have successfully installed units with less power available. Do the math and make sure you won't overload your circuitry. Make sure the over current protection, breakers or fuses, match your wire size and type. If you can separate the heater portion of the unit on a different circuit you can save...Read more

Wonderful Fan - Tough Install,

I love this fan! We have a 10 x 12 bathroom. This fan clears out all the moisture even with a very hot shower. The heater works well but running the fan and heater at the same time is pointless. All the heater air gets exhausted. (A no brainer.) The night light is nice but not worth what you have to pay for it.
I installed the fan into an existing room. The instructions and the design of the fan are better suited for new construction. I wish the instructions did a better job at giving tips for installing in an existing room. The hole I had to cut in the ceiling was not completely covered by the fan cover. There are rounded corners on fan cover and the square corners of the cut out in ceiling were not covered by it. So patching and painting.
The heater draws a lot of power and dims the lights slightly. A separate line for the fan is a good idea. Though to do in an existing room.
All in all I would but it again but install it differently.
